A Whole Lot of Leopard

Free People Leopard Swing Coat, $248.00

I just cannot get enough of this Free People leopard swing coat. It is such a fun addition to any wardrobe and it infuses an outfit with instant chic. Unfortunately, at $248, it is a little beyond my means. But a girl can dream! If you are like me and your holiday budget does not include personal splurges, you can recreate the look with this Pull and Bear lookalike. Remember, a bold statement coat like this always looks better with basics underneath. For an easy, Kate Moss look, put on a simple tee, skinny pants, and edgy jewelry. Or if you want a more whimsical look, wear it with a bright skirt, black tights, a skinny belt, and a blouse. The possibilities are endless!

Domestic Bliss

What I envision life to be like

Why is it that we refuse to make an effort when we are in private? Even if you are going to be stuck in the house all day, have pride in your appearance! Do your hair, put on a little makeup, or maybe even wear a cute little blouse. I am not trying to suggest that you mop the floor in heels and a cocktail dress (as shown above), but you should feel comfortable going out in public. When you look nice, you feel nice. And when you feel nice, you are far more likely to be productive, happy, and patient. Just five extra minutes in the morning will help you feel and look better, and isn’t that worth it? Whether or not you plan to go out, feeling like a woman is always better than feeling like a slob.

Bold Brocade

Vibrant Fall Details.

One of the biggest trends this season is brocade. But often the beautiful prints can go from classy to Gothic. Keep the heavy fabrics fresh with bright colors and tailored silhouettes (such as a flirty dress). Add fun accents like a jacket in a coordinating color, a pair of statement earrings, or a bold lip color. Neutral tights and shoes (in the same color) complete the look and add necessary warmth. Enjoy!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Pinned Image

This Thanksgiving, celebrate in style. The key here is to be comfortable and cozy. No one wants to be the girl who comes to Grammy’s in heels and a miniskirt. A chunky knit sweater, jeans, and simple boots always do the trick. Keep your makeup and jewelry minimal and pull your hair back in a simple pony or braid. Remember that today, the focus should not be on what you are wearing, but on who you are with. Enjoy your family, friends, and great food. (Today is not the day to stick to your diet. You can do a hundred crunches tomorrow, but don’t you dare pass on the pie.) Happy Thanksgiving.

Shades of Gold

love the mixtures of textures within a single tone

If you are like me, you love sparkles and sequins but are not sure how to wear them without feeling (or looking) ridiculous. Well, I have found a solution! As the fashionista above discovered, sequins can practically be a neutral when worn next to various shades of the same color. I would not suggest using this tactic with bright colors, but when done with neutrals, the overall result is a polished and understated way to wear sparkle. (This look would be incredibly striking in navy.) Go for minimal jewelry and makeup and let the sequins be the focal point. With holiday parties just around the corner, this is a great way to play with sparkle without going overboard. Enjoy!

Going Green

color. casual.

Happy fall! I adore fall, but it is always a bit of a challenge to transition your wardrobe while staying creative. This is an early autumn outfit that I love. Play with proportions in a flowy maxi skirt in a fun color and a simple pullover. Adding weathered leather and gold extras will polish the look, as will a cross-body bag. I like the addition of a belt, but if you want to make this more of a statement, add a simple watch and a few gold bangles for extra polish. Simple makeup and a messy braid finish off the outfit.

P.S. This is a great example of the look as seen on runways, but the open toed cork sandals may not be the best choice of footwear. I suggest a flat leather boot, simple flats, or a wedge ankle boot.
