Low-Key with the Family

You may love getting all fancied up for holiday social events, but when going to see family or opening presents Christmas morning, low-maintenance is the way to go. If you have to leave your house, throw on a big, comfy sweater and jeans, put on minimal makeup, and go. When you wake up to open your gifts, leave your pajamas on. (For bonus points, wear a cute PJ set Christmas eve. Then, you don’t have to change the next morning. Instant outfit!) Happy Holidays from LBD Files!

Ready to Party?

Black Lace Scallop Dress

As the holidays creep closer, our social calendars begin to fill up with parties, visits to family and friends, and other fun occasions. Finding the perfect outfit for these outings can beĀ very difficult, so my go-to is always a classic, fun little dress. Find one that you love. Look for dresses with fun details, whether it is lace (as seen on Taylor Swift), sequins, an interesting cut, beading, baroque print, or a standout color. Once you find the perfect dress, you can wear it over and over, switching up accessories and beauty. Rock a festive red lip and simple black pumps at a dinner party, and add a fur shawl, an arm full of baubles, and party heels for a night of cocktails. Belts, tights, bags, and earrings are some other great ways to mix it up. Either way, just have fun with your look. This is the best time of the year to experiment with sparkle.

Giving Me Chills…

who said winter has to be dreary?

We tend to forget color when the temperature begins to drop, so this is a reminder that winter does not mean we have to turn off the color! I love neutrals just as much as the next girl, but a tailored coat in a bold color makes a statement in a sea of black and brown. Adding bright gloves only adds to the style. (Added bonus: This look takes seconds to achieve! Jeans and a white tee are all you need as a base, because the coat carries the style.)

In the Trenches

Coat and bag

In my mind, there are a few essential pieces that every woman should own. One of these is the trench coat. This easy, classic garment can pull together a look in instants. It highlights your waist, hides your hips and thighs, and makes your legs look miles long. I suggest having one in a classic cut and color, but it is also great to look for one with a standout color, print, detail, or fabric. A trench coat has endless possibilities, and goes with everything.

The LBD Files Woman

In my mind, this is what the Little Black Dress Files is all about. I found this picture on Pinterest, and when I saw it, I was in love. This is a prime example of a classic, beautiful garment being updated with perfect extras. The belt, the glasses, the bag, and the shoes all come together to make this woman look individual and classy. We can all learn a thing or two from this woman.
